This is my story so far for NaNoWriMo. Enjoy!
Airborne, a Summary:
A plane. A 14 year old boy. A terrorist. Matt is an average boy going on his annual trip to New York to see his family. He visits his mothers side of the family once a year for Christmas. Then, it happens. The lights flicker and gun fire is heard. This trip just turned into a nightmare. The passengers on the plane have never seen each other before, and now they are depending on each other to survive. This will be the hardest time of the year for the plane passengers, and not all of them will survive.

My name is Matt Smith and my life is tough. My parents just divorced and I don’t have very many friends. I just moved here to Tampa Bay and so far, I hate it. Last year, when my parents were still together, I lived in New York, and it was amazing. I love the activity and business to it all, and now I’m stuck here. I live with my father now and seeing as how my mom won all of the money, we are broke. My father’s apartment here is small. Very small! I sleep in the living/dining/storage room on the couch while my father gets the bed. My father was running around on my mom, so the divorce is his fault.
My school is horrible. The kids there don’t like the “new ones” and that is what I am. A “new one”. Though the first couple of weeks were hard, but it little easier when Bob Harvey moved here. Bob is a nerd like the ones from the movies: tall, lanky, wears HUGE glasses, and wears his pants far above his waist line. Bob is probably my only friend.
I am shy. I’ve always been shy. I’ve never had friends before, other than Megan, my little sister. Megan lives with my mom in New York, so I’m pretty sure she got the better end of the bargain. I used to play games with her like Twister and Boggle, but now I can’t. I’m down south and she’s up north, so I’m going to have to get used to life without her.
Bob just got the game sphere 200, so I’ve spent most of this week at his house. No matter how hard he tries, I will always be better than him. Bob is a great friend. When I need him, he’s there. He has no life, so I am always aloud in his house. His parents love and adore me because I’m his first real friend. What they don’t know is that Bob is my first real friend to.
This morning was like any other. I woke up to my father screaming over the phone and got up to put my clothes on. Our apartment has only two rooms, so the only corded phone in the apartment just so happens to be in my “so called” room. I ate my bowl of Fiber-O’s and went to leave when my father called me. “Son, you’d better get in here now!” He was always angry now. My father’s new job as a mover wasn’t helping either. My father had dropped out of high school and my mom was the one working. Now that he’s on his own, it’s been rough on him.
After I sat through his “Son, you’d better help out more around here or you won’t be livin’ here any more!” speech, I left for school. I live 5 minutes from my school, so I just walk there every day. I met Bob in front and he didn’t look very happy. I asked why, which was a mistake.
“You’re moving!” I said.
“It’s not my decision.”
At least that’s what I believe I had heard. He was sobbing too hard to be sure.
“It’s because of my father’s job. He was promoted and now we have to live in New York.”
That was a devastating blow. My closest friend is moving to where I should be. The city my mom and Megan live in. I began to cry. We both sat there, on the school stairs, crying like babies. I don’t know how long I was on those stairs, but I do know that when I got up, the halls were empty and the janitor was mowing the lawn. I couldn’t wait until Christmas.
Christmas break is my favorite. Snow is falling, joy is everywhere, and I go on vacation. My father and I will fly up to New York every year from now on and I will get to see my mom and grandparents for Christmas. I will get to stay up there for the whole two weeks and I love every second of it. I will get to see Megan an exchange stories and play games like the old days. Christmas is coming and I can’t wait.

School is ending. Christmas is here and so is my vacation. Life without Bob has been tough, but I’m beginning to make new friends. One new friend I had made was Fredrick Lander. He’s a veteran and is kind to everyone. He’s going to New York for break too, and he’s also flying on the same flight as us. He lives in the apartment across from us and is 48 years old. I go over to his place often, pretty much daily. He has dozens of medals and such from his war days. Each time I visit, he has a new medal to show me or a new story to tell, though all of his stories are not that exciting.
I’m at the airport now. My father got out of going on this trip by sending me to go with Fredrick. The drive here from Tampa Bay to Atlanta was really boring. I had accidentally left my bag in the trunk, so I had to listen to some more of Fredrick’s war stories. When we arrived at the airport, I was excited to pull my bag from the trunk. The plane was set to land in 2 hours, so I had a lot of time to kill. Fredrick was reading a magazine on human anatomy and health care while I was on my PSP. I had gotten to the fifth level when the plane landed. Security was a long and rough experience, but we survived and were quickly seated. I’ve always hated planes, mainly because of my fear of heights. I’m scared to be 6 feet above the ground, let alone 1,500. Fredrick was kind enough to give me the isle seat, but I’m pretty sure that he wanted the window seat any way.
The couple across the isle is very kind. Their names are Larry and Linda Larimer. Both looked around the age of 65. Larry is short and almost completely bald, while Linda is a taller woman. Her hair was still a nice blonde color, but her face has wrinkles all over. The Larimers live in a nice home on Sullivan’s Island in South Carolina. Larry is a doctor at MUSC, and Linda is a psychiatrist, so it’s no wonder where they got the money from.
“I’ve been flying all of my life, so you don’t have to be worried” said Larry. “I was once a pilot, but those days left fast. Planes are the safest means of travel. The drive to the airport is actually more dangerous than the flight itself.” That comforted me a little, but I was still a little nervous. Remember U.S. Martials?
Fredrick had fallen asleep the moment he had hit his chair, and even the take-off didn’t awaken him. We were reminded to remain seated during take-off over the speakers, but who would be dumb enough to stand up any way. I had to turn off my cell phone that I had gotten last Christmas, so no texting for me.
I decided to turn on a movie. They had plenty to choose from, so I turned on Air Force One starring Harrison Ford. That is my absolute favorite movie, but I had to beg really hard to make my parents let me see it, seeing as its rated R. Harrison Ford is president and his plane, Air Force One, gets high-jacked. It is the story of how he gets his plane back and saves his wife and daughter. I’ve seen it probably a hundred times, but it never gets old.
As the movie started, it happened. BANG! Guns were being fired and the lights were flickering. Panic was beginning to rise. People were jumping from their seats and toddlers were crying and women were screaming. Another shot and the shriek of a woman silenced the crowd. “If I hear one word, I’ll kill another passenger!” a large man yelled. This wasn’t just any large man, he was huge. He looked like Arnold Schwarzenegger, but his hair was longer. His dark red shades covered his killer eyes, and there was a scar running across his left cheek.
“You killed my hus…” BANG! The woman was just murdered. “I’m serious. I’m not evil, but if you don’t do what I ask, I will shoot to kill. Now get seated!” His voice was raspy and worn out, like he had just screamed his head off the night before. It was then I decided to turn off my movie. When I had turned it off, I looked over at Fredrick. Fear was in his eyes.
“Your people have been in our country too long. This war is going to end, and this plane is the key to that happening. We aren’t evil, you are. You and your cold-hearted government. This plane is on course to the Pentagon in Washington. There is another plane just like this one headed there, too. Everyone on board will die when this plane hits the building. If I were evil, I wouldn’t be telling you this. I’m not the only one on this plane working toward the cause, so if you decide to be a hero and somehow end up killing me, one of the others will take care of you. I’m not afraid of death. I’m going to come around now and cut all of your phone lines. Once your line is cut, you’re free to talk. If you need to use the restroom, talk to me and I’ll send someone to escort you there. I don’t want this plane stinking. I’m going to come around now. Enjoy your flight.”

Oh, yeah, this is Blue Twin Gamer. I'm doing NaNoWrimo too, but I can't think of a good story.
